With cold weather comes the need for layering. And the need for layering comes with the ‘solids or prints’ dilemma. On one hand, wearing all black all the time (and occasionally throwing in some color or print) is one of the fastest ways to look effortlessly stylish. On the other hand life’s too short not to take some fashion risks! Here is my crash course on mixing and matching prints without looking like a clown. Instead of using images from the web, I decided to show some examples using my own wardrobe.

I try to live by the phrase “uncomfortably comfortable.” It’s a paradox in itself, but hear me out. You know that apprehension you get when you’re about to do something different? Nobody’s forcing you to do it, but you’re doing it anyways even if it scares you a little. It could be volunteering to give a speech, starting a new collaboration with someone you just met, travelling on your own for the first time, or taking leadership for something. Sometimes, being uncomfortably comfortable is what we need to learn new things and grow.

This seriously goes against everything I’ve written about looking fashionable while cheaping out. I believe my definition of “cheap” is quite skewed. I consider a top cheap if it’s under $15. I consider a pair of jeans cheap if it’s under $30. I don’t own a single pair of shoes I paid over $40 for. Meanwhile, for you, it might be entirely reasonable to spend more. Maybe I never grew out of my frugal-immigrant-living-in-a-rat-infested-basement mentality. (Yes, my family did have a rat problem back in the second basement we lived in). Just yesterday, I had a wake up call that it’s time to change my habits.

Entrepreneurship is such a broad term. It seems like when people think “entrepreneurship”, they think of business meetings, networking with hotshots, bottom lines, endless grit ect. All that plays a role in entrepreneurship, but I feel that the core of it is very simple. Continue reading “Oh hey, I guess I’m an entrepreneur now!”
In an ideal world, I’d be immortalized at nineteen (I’m turning nineteen for the fourth time this year). Maybe I’d be a vampire…they’re pretty cool. Rest assured, I’d be the type that drinks animal blood though. As extra as it sounds, it feels like it’s been a lifetime ago since I turned nineteen for the first time. I’ve definitely grown over the years, although there are still things I’m working on. This week, I’m back at it again with a personal topic. Here are some important things I would definitely travel back in time to tell myself.
P.s, no judging my cover image! This is me in my natural habitat. Like the unicorn slippers?

I realize that looking fabulous while being frugal is a recurring theme for me. Well, what can you do when the world has infinite pretty things but you don’t have an infinite budget? Ever seen Confession’s of a Shopoholic when Rebecca describes the feeling of falling in love with beautiful things? I don’t know about you, but I love pretty things. In this week’s post, I share three major tricks I’ve learned over the years for having nice things while still spending responsibly.

Just a quick update on my life- I’ve recently gone part time at my job at Trade Secrets so I can find something more corporate. So I’ve been seeing a lot more of my friends and wearing things that would normally be work-dubious. My style has definitely taken a turn for the darker. Here’s my August summer ootd’s for comparison. I’m officially bidding good bye to summer pastels and frills. The following are my top three most frequently worn outfits for the past month. Also known as me asking myself how much I can possibly dress down without looking lazy.

I’ve found myself falling into a weather rut lately. You know that period of time when you wear the same general thing because of the weather and start feeling “meh”? I love keeping cozy in sweaters and leggings- basically what you’d wear on a relaxed Sunday while enjoying a pumpkin spice latte. But it’s time to break out of the jacket-scarf-and-jeans habit. Instead of a regular pumpkin spice latte, let’s be pumpkin spice lattes with extra whipped cream, sprinkles, and a pumpkin spice cupcake on the side.

Get ready for another blast from the past! The 1995 chick flick, Clueless is one of my all time favorite movies. Plus, it was made the year I was born ayyy! Cher is such a lovable character, and she truly grows throughout the movie. Although she is shallow and manipulative at first, she learns to do good without any ulterior motives. Of course, another thing to love about her is her wardrobe. What I found really interesting was how styles from 90’s pop culture are truly making a comeback. Here are some throwback styles that became trendy again.

If you ask me, one of the biggest fashion tragedies is grunge never really taking off. It started in the 1980’s and peaked around the early 90’s. Silhouettes were androgynous and the entire vibe was very anti-fashion or anti-society. But everything old is new again! With the rise of oversize sweaters, midi skirts, and chokers, 21st century grunge is here to stay. Which is great for people like me who never quite grew out of their teenage aesthetic. This year, I dived straight into autumn with soft grunge. Here’s what I typically wear to be comfortable at work or hanging out over the weekends.
